What Does it Offer?

EPIS aims to offer the following deliverables to each and every entrepreneur joining the programme.

  • We will take you through an application process that will identify the most suitable internal academic partner to host your work.
  • You will then be encouraged to develop a detailed plan of the project you want to carry out over the following 12 months. Through this relationship the academic host will identify suitable bench space within the campus for you to further your work.
  • We will then introduce you to a group of potential business mentors to offer you support through your placement, you will be able to select the mentor most suitable to your needs.
  • We will assess your professional development needs as they arise and make available a training programme over your pre-incubation period that will meet as many of them as can be satisfied within the resources available.
  • You will be encouraged to actively network in the SME market and establish active links with a network of support services available to you from both the public and private sector.
  • You will also become a member of the EPIS Network which will meet quarterly to increase understanding of the latest business development issues.
  • We can offer a full-time or part-time placement and act as your interface between the University of Edinburgh and your business.

The objective at the end of your placement is that you complete the goals you establish with us at the start and are as close as can be achieved to commencing trading in your own right, in many cases you may have begun to trade during your time with EPIS.
