NIPHT was founded in 2007 by Dr. Patrick Hickey, a successful entrepreneur with many years of experience. NIPHT develops environmentally friendly technologies utilising fungi. The company also designs and manufactures novel energy-efficient lighting products and offers consultancy services to optimise bio-imaging techniques and optical instrumentation. Later this year, NIPHT will launch luminous fungi grow-kits "GlowShrooms (TM)" enabling cultivation of glow-in-the-dark (non-edible) mushrooms in the home or garden.
