H2Ology Ltd was formed to bring together the fields of water supply and domestic and industrial wastewater treatment previously undertaken between Scottish Water Technology (SWT) and Oil Remediation Technology (ORT).
SWT was formed in 1995 and brings 12 years experience of the water industry. Initially, the focus was on private water supplies for rural clients who also required systems to deal with their wastewater. With growing environmental concerns came the introduction of less intensive natural solutions such as reedbeds to deal with wastewater. In recent years, SWT has become increasingly involved in industrial effluent treatment which led to the establishment of Oil Remediation Technology (ORT).
ORT was created following an introduction in 2003 to the MYCELXTM Technologies Corporation in the United States of America. MYCELXTM is a novel viscoelastic adsorbent filter media which very efficiently removes hydrocarbons and other contaminants from water and air streams. Seeing the enormous potential for MYCELXTM to offer benefits to clients across a wide range of applications, ORT quickly secured the UK & Ireland distribution rights.
SWT had been receiving many enquiries about Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) and this had prompted us to contact the University of Edinburgh for assistance in testing one of the MYCELXTM products (PermaKleen) for road runoff applications. We began working with the Contaminated Land Assessment & Remediation Research Centre (CLARRC) and in fact ORT was created through another University of Edinburgh initiative, the highly acclaimed Edinburgh Pre-Incubator Scheme (EPIS).
Partnership with CLARRC generated our patented Advanced Treatment Station (ATS) platform filtration technology for SUDS applications. H2Ology continues to work in partnership with the University of Edinburgh and this knowledge transfer allows us to innovate and bring the best solutions to our clients? problems as we offer ?The Science and Knowledge of Water?.
