Mom and Paw - the entrepreneurs we don't talk about
Ken Morse was the undoubted star performer at the recent YCF Conference held in Stirling. Tim is the MD at MITs Entrepreneurship Centre and comes with the relaxed presentation manner and informed knowledge that you would expect from one of the USA's leading entrepreneurs (3COM for example).

His humorous presentation was well received by a packed conference and gave me the morale lift I had hoped it would. Among the many observations he made about entrepreneurship and business building was one I haven't heard before.....

Entrepreneurs get it from their mom and paw! I've heard a good many successful entrepreneurs talk about how they did it - but I can't remember anyone referring to their maw and paw as a coach. He suggested ignoring child work laws (joking) and get the kids into the office to do the photocopying and anything else that they could do. Concerned welfare workers will be relieved that he stopped short of pushing the kids up chimneys or under a spinning jenny.

It's the dinner conversation, the hours at the office, the briefcase (or PC) full of work that helps set the expectations of the offspring. Worth bearing in mind. So if you have kids (or can borrow some) why not use the office as the Early Learning Centre and the future of the UK and global economy will be all set to flourish.
